EAST ALTON — As temperatures continue to rise, so does the desire to hide indoors for area youths.
Wood River resident Benjy Bomkamp has spent his last several summers keeping children moving and helping them develop skills through basketball camps and speed and agility workshops.
“The point is to get kids moving and get them up off the couch,” Bomkamp said. “The only way kids can develop and get to a place where they’re more competitive at the high school level is to start when they’re young. This speed and agility camp is designed to help kids develop when it comes to fitness, core strength, speed and agility while they have a good time with other kids.”
The camp will run at 9 a.m. every Monday, Tuesday and Friday from June 15 to July 10 at Eastwood School in East Alton for boys and girls ages fourth grade to eighth grade. The cost is a one-time charge of $10 per person.
Participants are asked to dress appropriately for outdoor weather and to wear tennis shoes.
