Cheyenne Wilson may be following in the footsteps of older sister Jordann.
The elder Wilson excelled in girls’ basketball at both Marquette Catholic and Alton High. The AHS senior, who missed almost all of the past season with a knee injury, is headed to Lewis and Clark Community College. She was a two-time winner of the Alton Exchange Club’s free throw shooting award.
Cheyenne is making her foul shots, too. A fifth grader, she finished first in recent competition at North Elementary School in Godfrey.
“She won the preliminary round to get to the finals and then beat five other winners for the school championship,” North physical education teacher Layne Bennett said. “She finished first overall out of approximately 275 kids.”
Bennett added, “Cheyenne has excelled and achieved in my class beyond the norm for sure this year. She won the free throw competition and the school wide pacer (endurance) test.
“The great thing about her is that she’s an incredible little lady and a great student in the classroom.”
