Edwardsville Township Supervisor Frank Miles announced the Board of Trustees approved a resolution March 22 to renew its service contract with the Main Street Community Center.
The agreement continues the service agreement already in place with the center in the amount of $5,000, with an additional $3,000 to support the Lunch and Learn program initiated last year.
“I am happy the township is able to continue to support the Main Street Community Center,” Miles said. “This service contract will allow the center to provide recreational and nutritional programs for the elderly residents of Edwardsville Township.”
The township has also applied for $30,000 in grant funds from the Madison County Sustainability Grant Program and the Madison County Park Enhancement Program. The township is eligible for $15,000 from each of the programs.
“The funds will be used to renovate Restroom 2 at Edwardsville Township Community Park,” Miles said. “We recently completed the renovation work on Restroom 1, which installed new high-efficiency fixtures, new partitions, high-efficiency hand dryers and baby-changing tables. These renovations will be duplicated at Restroom 2. We intend to apply for a grant from the Metro East Parks and Recreation District to assist with this project as well.”
