WHO: Mineral Springs Mall
WHAT: The Mineral Springs centennial anniversary
WHEN: Saturday, Aug. 16
WHERE: 301 E. Broadway, Alton
WHY: Owner Janet Kolar wanted to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the iconic local hotel, originally built by August and Herman Luer and completed in 1914. The hotel has since become home to a variety of shops and restaurants since 1971 and is reputed to be one of the most haunted buildings in Alton. The anniversary celebration included tours, period-style garb and refreshments.
