U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Illinois) has announced that the village of Brighton has been awarded a community facility grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development.
“I commend the village of Brighton and Mayor Wayne Shafer for obtaining this competitive federal grant and for their continued efforts to make Brighton and the surrounding rural areas safe,” said Davis.
The $4,800 grant will be used to purchase a fully equipped police vehicle to replace one of Brighton’s older high-maintenance police vehicles. This vehicle will be used to provide 24-hour police services to the community and also provide 24-hour mutual aid assistance and emergency services to the Macoupin County Sheriff’s Department to the rural areas surrounding Brighton.
