GODFREY — The Madison County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help finding the suspect in an armed robbery at Casey’s General Store, 6301 Godfrey Road.
Sheriff’s deputies responded at 5:27 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, to the business in reference to an armed robbery. Deputies met with clerks who reported the suspect had just fled the business, armed with a handgun. A search of the area was conducted, but the suspect could not be located.
The suspect is described as a white male of unknown age, 5 foot 8 inches to 5 foot 10 inches tall with a small build.
The suspect entered the business wearing dark clothing, a hoodie or a stocking hat, with a red or pink cloth or scarf over his face. The suspect displayed a small silver handgun and demanded all the money. The suspect did obtain U.S. currency during the robbery, but the exact dollar amount is being withheld at this time.
The suspect fled the store on foot in a northbound direction. A canine unit was called to the assist to track the suspect, but the track was not successful in developing further leads or evidence.
