GODFREY – The public is invited to attend the 49th annual Godfrey Women’s Club Christmas Carousel on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at The Commons at Lewis and Clark Community College.
Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. with tickets available in advance by calling (618) 466-0900. Godfrey Women’s Club members provide homemade items for Bakery, Christmas Wonderland, Creative Threads and Home and Garden Booths.
The event is a fund-raiser to benefit the club’s beautification and development projects for the Godfrey area, including tree-planting and landscaping of village intersections. Sharon Roberts, chairperson for the Carousel, said the club provides scholarships for young women attending Lewis and Clark Community College. They also volunteer at the Christmas Wonderland at Rock Spring Park in Alton and contribute to community charities and special benefits to help needy families at Christmas with food and clothing.
The organization has donated time and funding for projects throughout Godfrey since 1961.
“I just want to thank the businesses and the public because without them we are unable to be successful in our giving throughout the year,” Roberts said.
