SPRINGFIELD — Jan. 1 is the effective date for more than 200 new state laws passed by the General Assembly and signed by the governor in 2017. The Senate Democrats have published their top 10 list of new and interesting laws that take effect in 2018.
Among the measures that go into effect Jan. 1 are laws regarding children, consumers, domestic violence victims, animals, teenage organ donors and drivers.
