Barbara Faye Woods, 77, of Troy, died at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014, at Highland Health Care Center in Highland.
She was born Aug. 15, 1937, in Wickliffe, Ky., the daughter of George Payne Mathis and Louvelia Morgan Mathis.
She married Joseph Franklin Wood on June 2, 1956, in Raton, N.M. He survives.
Barbara was a homemaker. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Troy. Barbara was a “real book worm.” She studied art and nursing classes in college. She was a Real Estate Broker in Collinsville for Woods Real Estate. She enjoyed traveling to other states by car or the side roads. Barbara loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph F. Woods of Troy; daughters and sons-in-law, Cherryl L. and Rick Wiesemeyer of Troy and Karen L. and Denny Simmons of Highland; son and daughter-in-law, Connie R. Hunt of Wood River; grandchildren, Kyle J. (Mindy) Wiesemeyer, Casey E. (Tim) Marks, Morgan R. (Brent) Phelps, Dustin H. Simmons, Joshua T. (Shelisa) Woods, Hannah E. Woods, Joseph Keith McFarland and Shane P. Hunt; four great-grandchildren; sister, Shirlyn Mohrman of St. Charles, Mo.; and brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Carol Mick of Klamath Falls, Ore.
She was preceded in death by both parents.
She gifted her body to Washington University School of Medicine.
