Frances Monetta Lebegue, 76, of Cottage Hills, died at 6:41 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton of a myocardial infarction and complications from diabetes.
Monetta was born on March 18, 1938, in Winfield, Mo., the daughter of William and Clara Belle (Tayon) Dixon. She was the first of their six children. The family lived in Winfield for a few years, in Virginia for a short time, and then bought a home on Haven Avenue in Cottage Hills. She attended the elementary school in Cottage Hills and Civic Memorial High School in Bethalto.
She married Herman Lebegue on Nov. 16, 1955, in Cottage Hills. He survives.
Monetta was a homemaker. She and Herman owned a farm in New Douglas, Ill., for 34 years until they moved to Cottage Hills.
She is survived by her six children and their spouses, Vandora (Jim) Elfrink of Belleville, Nathan Lebegue of Cottage Hills, Aurelia (Richard) Savage of Raeford, N.C., Amelia (Kenneth) Witte of Miami, Okla., Warren (Debra) Lebegue of New Douglas, and Michele (Carl) Rice of Waverly; her 19 grandchildren, Phil, Jared, and Katy Elfrink, Stephanie (Tony) DeSantis and Joshua Savage, Erin (Anthony) LeMay, Joseph (Sylvia) Witte, and Benjamin, Timothy, and Daniel Witte, Warren Paul Jr., Christopher, and Alexander Lebegue, Danny (Belinda) Robertson, and Michael “Mokey” (Laura) Mulcahy and Ashley, Carl David, Jonathan, and Jeremiah Rice; nine great-grandchildren, Emily, Arthur, Octavian, Chiara, Kalee, Dillon, Logan, Brock, and an anticipated “Joseph”; her siblings, Betty Wilburn of Booneville, Mo., Joseph “Pete” (Yvonne) Dixon of Webb City, Mo., and Nina Miller of St. Marys, Ga.; a sister-in-law, Aneda Rutz of Highland; a brother-in-law, Lester (Janet) Lebegue of Medora; several aunts, Rose Tayon, Beatrice Wilson, Della Tayon, and Mable Harding of Winfield, Mo., and Sarah Dixon of Cottage Hills; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Billy and Tony Dixon and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Harlan and Arzella Lebegue, Wilfred Rutz, Ordella and Orville Rutz, and Dorothy and Vernon Mick.
A visitation will be held from 1 until the memorial service at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, at the First Baptist Church of Cottage Hills with Pastor Warren Brown officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association, the Cottage Hills Fire Department, or the First Baptist Church of Cottage Hills Memorial Fund.
