Harold Fink, 86, of Alton, passed away at 9:58 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, 2014, at his home with his family by his side.
He was born Oct. 16, 1928, in Alton, the son of Harold R. and Adele Mary (Breckweg) Fink.
Harold attended Alton Schools and served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952 in the 4th AAA Battalion. He was in communications, stationed in England for most of that time. He retired from Alton Central Mold Shop with 35 years of service. He was a 50-plus-year member of the Alton-Wood River Sportsmen’s Club. An avid hunter and fisherman, Harold had many great times at their Pleasant Hill property.
On April 28, 1951, he married Doris Henson, and they enjoyed 63 years together.
In addition to his wife, he leaves behind one son and his wife, Joseph Allen and Dana (Fillback) Fink of East Alton; one daughter, Chris Lynn Fink of Bethalto; a grandson, Tanner Fink of East Alton; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Shirley and Henry Vassar of Godfrey; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert “Bob” and Cheryl Henson of Alton; seven nieces, two nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by both his parents and parents-in-law; a sister and her husband, Roberta and Raymond Jones.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014, at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014, in the funeral home chapel with Chaplain Bruce Baumberger officiating.
Burial will take place in St. Patrick Cemetery.
