Marvin M. Rector, 82, of Alton, died at 1:35 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, at his home with family by his side.
Born Sept. 27, 1934, in Alton, he was the son of Merle and Verla (Lane) Rector. Mr. Rector served in the U.S. Army Reserves and retired from Jacoby’s Furniture Store as a shipping and receiving foreman after 30 years of service. He was a minister for Victory General Baptist Church in Alton.
Surviving are his wife, Chris G. Rector of Alton, seven children and a stepdaughter, Cindi McClain-Mack (Harry) of East Alton, Gerald Rector (Cindy Flessner) of Dahlgren, Ill., Victor Rector (Pam) of Murrayville, Ill., Marcia McCassaland (Gene) of Kansas City, Mo., Ramona Washburn (George Neumeister) of Godfrey, Matthew Zachary Rector of Alton and Selena Coates of Alton; and a stepdaughter, Tammy Langer (Mark) of Alton. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, one stepgrandchild and 19 great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Fowler Rector; two grandchildren, Eric M. McClain and Joshua Rector; and two sisters.
Per his request there will be no services. Memorials may be made to his widow, Chris Rector in care of Gent Funeral Home.
