Michael Rusty Ames, 58, of Pangburn, Ark., formerly of Granite City, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014, at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.
He was born on Aug. 26, 1956, in St. Louis, a son to the late Russell Eugene and Ruby Ruth (Burnett) Ames.
Michael was a longtime electrical salesman for Rexel in Casper, Wyo. He was a former member of the Edwardsville Masonic Lodge and enjoyed a unique sense of humor with his wife. Michael had a special love for animals, especially his dog Buddy and his cats Sonny and Freedom. In his free time he enjoyed stained glass and spending time with his family. Michael will be remembered for his kind heart and all the special times he shared with his family and friends.
He is survived by and will be missed by his wife, Linda (Latina) Bruell Ames, whom he married on Aug. 31, 2014; his daughters, Theresa and (Nate) Jones of Kansas City, Mo., Carrie and (Christopher) Kallal of Washington; stepson, Timothy Bruell of Gilberts; grandchildren, Kingston Jones, Ruby Jones, Rowand Kallal, Emmalina Kallal and Autumn Kallal; brother, John Ortolan; and sisters, Ruth Taylor and Cathy Ortolan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ron Ames.
In celebration of his life, graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014, at St. John Cemetery, 2901 Nameoki Road, Granite City. Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church of Pangburn, Ark. Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, is serving the family.
