
Thomas (Tom) Martin Stromske
Thomas (Tom) Martin Stromske, 80, of Godfrey, passed into his eternal home at 12:40 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014, at his residence, with family by his side.
He was born in Alton on Feb. 21, 1934. He was the son of the Stanley and Gertrude (Miller) Stromske.
Thomas was employed in the banking industry for more than 30 years. He retired from banking in 1996. He belonged to Rotary, KC, American Cancer Society, United Way, Sportsman Club and Eagles. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Church and American Legion.
He married Jean Acker on Oct. 5, 1957. She passed away on Jan. 15, 1992. He married Patricia Dooley-Acker on June 6, 1993. She survives.
Also surviving are five daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Joe Heitz, Jackie and John Klockenkemper of Godfrey, Joan and Jon Hardy of Edwardsville, Jane and Ryan Eckert of Springfield, Joyce Stromske of Alton; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Angela Stromske of Godfrey; three stepdaughters and their husbands, Teresa and Rick Leakey of Garland, Texas, Mary Jean and Mark Turner of Franklin, Tenn., Kathy Acker-Ramsey of Godfrey; one stepson and wife, Jim Acker and Renee Kneepmann of Des Peres, Mo.; one stepson, Timothy Acker (deceased Nov. 29, 1992), and his widow, Joy Acker-Hausman; 14 grandchildren, Carley and Adam Hartig, Caitlin, Catherine Heitz, John Thomas and fiancée Brittany Albright, Allison, Rebecca, Patrick Klockenkemper, Hunter, and Sydney Sackman, Cade Hardy, Michelle and Tommy Stromske, Jackson and Ellie Eckert; 12 step-grandchildren, Keith and Megan, Jim and Lesli, David Leaky, Matthew and Sarah, Ashley, and Kristen Turner and fiancée, Blake Warren, Benjamin and David Acker, Sam and Sierra Acker, Joe and Jack Ramsey; three great-grandchildren; and three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Nancy Stromske of Godfrey, Ed and Wanda Stromske of Alton, and David and Judy Stromske of Grafton.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at Ss. Peter and Paul Church with Msgr. Kenneth Steffen and Fr. Peter Donohoe officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey.
Memorials may be made to Ss. Peter and Paul Church, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
