Harry “The Horse” Gallatin, 87, is a member of the 2015 Hall of Fame class at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
The 1944 Roxana High grad will be joined by Muhammad Abdulqaadir (football), Lauren Haas (softball), Allison Hiller (women’s golf), Charles Ropiequet (gymnastics) and Bob Schroeck (baseball).
Gallatin is entering as a men’s basketball coach. He coached the Salukis to a 79-35 record in four seasons. He was the first head coach to guide SIUC to the small-college NCAA Tournament in 1959, 1960 and 1961.
This will be the eighth HOF Gallatin will be inducted into from his career. Most notably he is in the Naismith Memorial Basketball HOF for his illustrious 10-year career as an NBA player.

He later became the first head basketball coach and athletic director at SIUE and then coached men’s golf for the Cougars for 24 years before retiring.
Gallatin attended Wood River High School in 1940-41 prior to the opening of Roxana High. He is already a member of the SIUE HOF.
The 2015 SIUC HOF class will be inducted in a ceremony on Feb. 13.
